Brian Scott Trammell

May 5, 1972 — October 28, 2024

Brian Scott Trammell passed away October 28, 2024 at the age of 52. Born in Michigan on May 5, 1972, Brian moved to Texas in 1977.

A beloved husband, father, bonus dad, dog dad, brother, uncle, and son, Brian never met a stranger. He was spirited, fun-loving, and full of adventure. He loved baseball, basketball and football and often found himself as the coach for one of the kids’ teams enjoying every minute. Music was a passion of his but more so vicariously through his son, where he loved playing their favorite game, “guess the song”. Michael would play and try to stump him on songs, and they would both laugh. While at a restaurant waiting for food, he was always up for a very competitive game of Spot It! with the kids, occasionally letting them win. If anyone needed a random fact about just about any subject, his voracity for learning made him the source to go to. He loved to travel and could make even the worst vacation appear to be the best. His only request for his 45th birthday was to go shark diving which he accomplished off the North Shore of Hawaii. He put his whole heart into enjoying life.

Many little boys grow up saying they want to be a firefighter. Brian not only held that dream as a young child but continued to live that dream for over 20 years. After short stints in advertising and as a stockbroker, Brian decided to follow his passion and go to fire school and then paramedic school. He began his fire career in Richardson as a member of the Richardson Fire Department and then settled into Station 3 with Plano Fire-Rescue as a firefighter and paramedic. He loved being a firefighter and anything fire related. He was often asked why he did not promote to hold a higher position within the department and being able to be in the fire and help people in the back of the ambulance were his reasons. He loved being hands-on with his career and did not want to give up either apparatus.

On December 31, 2020, Brian’s life was changed by an injury and illness sustained at work with the Covid vaccine. After that time his life looked significantly different. After fighting very hard to overcome this, he was retired in June of 2023. Fighting the injury along with PTSD became his daily battle. He tried to distract himself by building Lego for neurological therapy and playing video games after exhausting the lineups of a number of television streaming services. While his life outside the house became mostly doctors’ visits, he enjoyed spending time with family when he was able at home.

He was preceded in death by his father Warren V. Trammell.

Brian is survived by his wife, Ann; his son Michael of Oceanside, California; his bonus children Caroline Kazee (Brayden Tanner) and Gabriel Kazee of Fort Worth; his mother Susan Trammell of China Spring; his brother and sister-in-law Mark and Jennifer Trammell of China Spring and their children Phoenix Trammell and Allison Trammell; his two German Shepherds Spock and Tiberius; and other cousins, loved ones, and friends.

A private visitation and informal ceremony will be held Saturday, November 16. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to 529 accounts for the kids, or a donation to Next Rung, an organization that provides mental health assistance to firefighters and first responders.
