Bryant Colley

January 21, 1957 — September 14, 2022

Edward Bryant Colley, 65, of Burleson, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, September 14. He was a follower of Jesus Christ, and we are confident that as he took his last breath on earth, he took his first steps into heaven and into the arms of Jesus.

He was born on January 21, 1957 in Fort Worth, Texas to Edward & Fern Colley and grew up with two fantastic big sisters, Tena & Karen. He married his high school sweetheart Kay in August 1976, and they just celebrated 46 years together. Their marriage has been a beautiful picture of what lasting love looks like in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, in the good times and the bad.

Together they had three children - Arica, Brandon (BC!) & Justin (JC!). Bryant was a wonderful dad. He spent many Saturdays on the sidelines of soccer & basketball games or in the dugouts of baseball diamonds. Those days transitioned to Friday night lights with the Martin Band, MHS Orchestra concerts, and numerous activities supporting his kids in ministries at Lake Arlington Baptist Church, where he & Kay have been members since 1990. There is no counting how many hot dogs & Jackie burgers he grilled through the years! (And if you knew Bryant at all, you know how much he loved to grill!)

The role he loved best though was that of G-pa. He often said, “If I had known grandkids were so great, I would have had them first!” He loved to spoil his grandkids with gifts and made sure there was always ice cream (Blue Bell, of course) at his house when they visited.

Bryant was the definition of an extrovert and would talk to everyone he met. He was a proud Texan (is there any other kind?), loved to grill, loved to talk about his family, and always had a hack or suggestion for whatever problem arose. He will be so missed by many.

He is survived by his wife Kay, daughter & son-in-law Arica & Christopher Lee, son & daughter-in-law Brandon & Melissa Colley, son & daughter in law Justin & Shelby Colley, and his beloved grandchildren - Harper, Bennett & Ryan Colley, Savannah & Joshua Lee, and Jack & Luke Brown. He is also survived by his sister Tena Alexander as well as several nieces & nephews.

Celebration of life services will be held on Tuesday, September 20 at 10 am at Lake Church (2912 Little Road, Arlington). Graveside services will follow at Everman Cemetery in Everman. Visitation will be on Monday, September 19, 5-7pm at Lucas & Blessing Funeral Home (518 SW Johnson Ave, Burleson).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Journey Men’s Matamoros Missions at Lake Church.
