Buddy "Joe" Burke, 81, of Burleson entered into the arms of our Lord on June 28, 2018 after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma cancer. Linda, his wife of 60 years, and daughter Sherry were by his side.
Funeral Service: 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethesda Baptist Church with a visitation an hour prior. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
Joe was born in Marshall, Texas on October 26, 1936 to Jack Marshall Burke and Mildred Mahan Beck Burke. Joe was a loving son, father, grandfather and husband. He was a good Christian man and loved meditating with God and nature. He is a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and the Sunshine Sunday School Class, which had a special place in his heart. Joe had numerous hobbies including; fishing, gardening, working on cars, camping, cruising with high school friends and collecting lots of "stuff". He had his dogs that he loved with the truest love.
Joe was in the Air Force for 9 years and 13 years in the Army Reserve. He retired and went into inactive Reserves in 1981. He loved his country and the military. He worked at General Motors Parts Division for 29 years, retiring in 1995.
Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Beck Dillman and husband Gary; father, Jack Marshall Burke; brothers, Donald A. Burke and Jack M. Burke, Jr.
Survivors: Wife and love of his life, Linda; son, Barry of Richmond, Texas; daughter, Sherry Stanford and husband Ricky of Burleson; grandchildren, Matt Stanford of Burleson, Tara Burke of Cleburne, Chelsie Herbut and husband Arpi of Budapest, Hungary; great-grandchildren, Jayden Crisp, Heaven Burke both of Cleburne; aunt, Freda Beck of Austin and numerous cousins.
The family would like to thank Alpha Omega Hospice and caregivers Gae Webster and JoJo Gibson for their devoted service to Joe as well as Covenant Place of Burleson.
Heaven is a brighter place today because Joe is there. He will forever be missed by those who knew and loved him.
