Campbell Thomasson

January 27, 1931 — March 3, 2013

COLLEYVILLE -- Campbell Franklin Thomasson, 82, of Fort Worth passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013.

Service: A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16 at Birchman Baptist Church, Ricker Center Conference Room, 9100 N. Normandale St., Fort Worth, where he was a member. A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 9, in Jasper, Tenn., with full military honors and interment in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper.

Campbell was born in Wildwood, Ga., on Jan. 27, 1931. He graduated from Marion County High School in Jasper, Tenn., in 1949. Campbell served in the United States Air Force for nearly 26 years, achieving the rank of master sergeant. He met his beautiful bride, Cliffa Nelle Stafford, in Rapid City, S.D., and they married in 1953. This summer they were to celebrate 60 wonderful years together. His military career carried him and his family to four continents, five countries, and seven states where a new adventure was always waiting for them. A camel ride, a bullfight, and five feet of snow were not uncommon in some places! Retiring from the military, Campbell worked 20 years for Lockheed Martin/General Dynamics Corp. in Fort Worth. While there, he earned a degree in engineering from East Texas State University. For a time, he and Cliffa were active square dancers. Later, never truly retiring, he filled his days with his loving furry pets, woodworking, vegetable gardening, family and friends gatherings, and yes, more traveling!

Campbell was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Edith Thomasson.

Survivors: Campbell is survived by his wife, Cliffa Stafford Thomasson; son, Campbell Franklin (Susan) Thomasson Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughters, Tanya (Bruce) Hodges, Dee Dee (Tom) McGuire and Sherry (Jim) Schwartz of the Fort Worth area; siblings, Lois Hardy, Leon Thomasson, Aleene Durham, Kay Sartin, Dewey Thomasson and Donald Thomasson of the Chattanooga, Tenn., area; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
