Carl Houston Bass died peacefully at his home in Hurst, Texas on January 22, 2022 at the age of 93.
A viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, February 8 from 4-6 PM at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas. Funeral Service is Wednesday February 9 at 2:00 PM at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Burial will take place at Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery in Colleyville, Texas.
Carl was born on July 31, 1928 in Axtell, Texas to James Huey Bass and Annie Ivy Sanders. He attended school in Fort Worth, Texas. He married Alpha Lou Reedy in 1946 after they met working at Williamson Dickie. Over the next several years, the couple welcomed a son and a daughter into their home. After moving to Hurst, Carl began working for Bell Helicopter. He worked there for 34 years until he retired in 1990. His children remember him as a kind, gentle, Christian father that supported them fully.
Carl loved music and played guitar into his 90's. He could often be found at the senior center playing rhythm guitar and singing classic country tunes. He was a devout man who was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bedford since its founding in 1956.
Carl is survived by his children Dennis Bass of Hurst, Vivian Kraatz of Euless and husband Gary; sister Louise Kimbrow of Burleson; half-brother Jimmy Bass of Burleson; half-sister Norma Tatum of Burleson; and granddaughter Karla Bass of North Richland Hills. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Alpha Bass; father James Bass of Fort Worth; mother Annie Evans of Fort Worth; sister Ruby Posey of Arlington.
