Carl Ray Burnett

Carl Ray Burnett 5/11/47 – 3/20/24

Carl Ray Burnett entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. He passed peacefully in his sleep at home in Keller, Texas, surrounded by the love of his family.

Carl was born May 11, 1947, into a large and loving farm family in Achille, Oklahoma, where he was 10th of 16 kids. In his youth, he helped at home – he farmed, cooked, and baked. Carl met Doris in high school in Seagraves, Tx, where they married in 1966 and thereafter moved to the Dallas area. He worked in the construction field for over 50 years and retired near age 70. Carl “Paw Paw” spent his golden years enjoying the outdoors, usually with a grandchild nearby. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, grilling, reading, and being a quiet spectator at youth sports events.

Carl was a humble family man and a content home-body. A good vacation to him meant visiting extended family or attending a family reunion. His tender love and affection for his wife, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, siblings, brothers and sisters in law, and many of the friends of the kids he loved will be his lasting legacy. Countless times it was said about Carl to his children, "You have the best dad." His last words were the words he said most often in life, "I love you."

The family is especially grateful to Holy Savior Hospice for their tender, loving, care, helping our beloved Dad, and Paw Paw, transition as peacefully as possible in the comfort of home.

Carl is survived by his dearly loved wife, Doris Huntley Burnett, his two children, Kristen (Don), Aaron (Mallorie), his 5 grandchildren, Chance (Jasmine), Brooke, Averee, Locklynn, C Hawkins, his 3 brothers, Gary, Dural, Phillip, and 3 sisters, Judy, Cynthia and Theressa and many nieces and nephews, who he loved affectionately.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Dollie Wells Burnett, 3 brothers, Edward, Kenneth, and Don, 6 sisters, Jewel, Chistine, Wanda, Velma, Irene, and Doris, and his beloved grandson, Cole.

Family and friends will honor him and celebrate his life Good Friday, March 29th at 2pm at home.
