Carl Henry Fair, 95, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2019.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lucas and Blessing Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Burleson Memorial Cemetery. Visitation: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Lucas and Blessing Funeral Home.
Carl was born April 14, 1924 in Dawson County near Lamesa, Texas, to E.E. and Mattie Fair. Carl was ninth of thirteen children. His father was a share cropper. He grew up poor, lots of hard work, but rich with family love. He graduated high school from Union, Texas. He then went on to join the Navy Seabees in August 1943. He was a bulldozer operator in Guam, keeping the airfield and roads maintained. After WWII he moved to Burleson where he met the love of his life, Nina Drummond. They were married June 12, 1948 and shared 71 years together. They were blessed with three sons, David, Rusty, Phillip and daughter Louise. Carl worked two full time jobs for 20 years. He worked 20 years at Thomas Conveyor as a machinist and 32 years with Union Pacific as an electrician. He moved to Covington, Texas in 1984 and raised cattle for the next 30 years after retirement. Carl loved the Lord and his church family. He served as an Elder for the last 25 years at the Covington Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, children, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and brother Vernon. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Fair.
