Carla Jan Garrison-Mitchell

Carla Jan Jessup Mitchell, 67, of Irving, Texas, went to meet her Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 8, 2023.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 13th at 1:00 pm at Lucas Funeral Home, 700 W. Wall St. Grapevine, TX. A family graveside will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City, TX.
Carla was born on May 31, 1955, to Janet Louise Bubak Jessup and Thomas Joseph Jessup, Jr. in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 1973. In college, Carla was pledged in Pi Beta Phi sorority, and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Baylor University in 1977. Carla was married to Stephen M. Garrison from 1977 to 1996. Carla worked in the Oklahoma Education System as a kindergarten teacher for many years. She was exceptionally talented and won the award of Teacher of the Year. Carla met Robert Lyle Mitchell at Park Cities Baptist church in 2003 and they went on their first date to see the movie “The Passion” in 2004. They were married on November 17, 2012.
Carla was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend to so many. She had a strong faith in God that showed in every aspect of her life. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.
Carla is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas J. Jessup Jr. and Janet Bubak Jessup and several Aunts and Uncles.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Jan Garrison-Staats and her husband Michael Staats; grandchildren, Olivia Staats, Lucinda Staats, and Byron Staats ; brother, Gregory L. Jessup and his wife Susan Jessup; nephews, Gregory L. Jessup, Jr., Joseph A. Jessup, Benjamin H. Jessup and their wives and children; Aunts, Patricia Glenn, Sandra Jessup and Gracie Sasserville; uncle, John W. Jessup; several cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews, and many more family and friends.
