Carlene Welborn Bartlett, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed peacefully at the age of 81 on July 30, 2020, surrounded by friends and family at her home in Keller, Tx.
Carlene was gifted to this world on March 24 th , 1939 in Caddo, OK to parents John Hildrey Welborn and Naoma Christine Marshall, both awaiting her arrival in heaven. She graduated from Durant High School and went on to retire from Abbott Labs. Carlene was an avid puzzle solver and frequently enjoyed Sudoku, crossword puzzles, and cryptograms. She also loved collecting bells, angels, and crosses and was often gifted those collectables when her loved ones traveled. In her younger years, Carlene enjoyed shopping with her sisters, and sisters in law, and was known to cut a rug in her hot pants and gogo boots with her twin sister Delphine Welborn Draper. Delphine was right beside her sister through every stage of her life, helping raise babies and grandbabies along the way. To know Carlene was to know a love and grace that was beyond measure. Her greatest joy was to shower her family in love through home cooked comfort food, with a side of wit and splash of ornery. She was known for her witty zingers and colorful sense of humor. She was often called by her children and grandchildren for recipes and cooking tips. If she wasn’t cooking your favorite meal, you could find her sitting in her rocking chair singing her famous lullaby to all of the babies. Every grandchild and greatgrandchild would argue, convincingly, that they were her very favorite. Because she was so good at making everyone around her feel like the most important person in the world.
Carlene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband RC Bartlett who referred to her as his Earth Angel. In his eyes she could do no wrong and he lived his life to honor and serve her. He was most assuredly dancing at the gates of Heaven waiting to welcome her home.
She was also preceded by; Granddaughter Amanda Renee Adair, Grandson Ronald Dwayne Adair, Sisters Doris Patricia Hurley and Wanda Geraldine Robinson, Brothers in Law Paul Work and Clyde Robinson, and Sister in Law Ola Jean Welborn.
She was survived by; Daughters Carron Denise Adair and Charlotte Renee Chandler, Son Chuck William Chandler and wife Terrie Chandler, Grandchildren Camille, Cole, Jamie, Sarah, Tina, Trey, Taylor, and Torie, and eleven great grand kids. She was survived by sisters Twila Work, Twin Delphine Draper and husband Dean Draper, Sister Margie James and husband Jerry Don James, and brother John Lee Welborn. As well as beloved pets Benji and Poppy.
