Nan Wirtz of Hurst Texas, passed away on Monday, January 27th in Bedford Texas. She will always be remembered as a loving Mother, Sister, Aunt and Friend to all that knew her. She was born on January 31, 1941, in Perryton Texas to James Amos Morris and Elsie Lee Thornton Morris. She had 3 sisters, but they were not just her sisters, they were her best friends.
Nan lived in Perryton until about 1957 when her mother and Stepfather moved to Fort Worth. After moving to Fort Worth, she met Ronald (Ronnie) Wirtz and they soon started dating. She graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1959 and married Ronnie on October 29, 1960. They loved boating and being on Eagle Mountain Lake either water skiing or fishing. In 1962, Nan gave birth to their daughter, Sherri Denise and in 1972, their son, Robert Dale. In 1973 they moved from Fort Worth to Hurst where they lived for 50 years. Nan loved volunteering for the PTA and being involved in her children’s schools and classrooms. In the 1970’s she worked as a receptionist in an orthodontist’s office for Dr. Wyatt. About 1984 she started assisting her husband with their business, Video Ventures, until 2015.
Throughout the years, Nan battled different forms of cancer. She always proved to everyone that she could beat the disease. Although she was small, she had a spirit to live as big as a giant. Nan also had a heart for caring for others and put her family first before herself. She was a good listener and had the touch of helping others feel better, just being by their side at a time in need. She will be missed by so many.
Nan was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Samuel Wirtz, and two sisters, Vera Joe Munson and Flora Sue Morris. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 3rd, from 6 to 8 pm at Lucas Funeral Home located at 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, TX 76053.
