Carmelo Stephen Sanfilippo, Sr, 83, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.
Graveside Service: 11:30 am Thursday at Crowley Cemetery. Visitation: 10:00 am to 11:00 am Thursday at Lucas and Blessing Funeral Home.
Carmelo was born November 6, 1936 in Newport, Rhode Island to Joseph and Anna Sanfilippo. He graduated from William S. Rogers High School in Newport and was selected as all-state for baseball. Baseball was his passion and he played semi-pro in Germany while stationed there in the Air Force. Carmelo was also an avid UConn Women's Basketball fan. He loved pumpkin pie, crab sauce and all sweets. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Sanfilippo.
Survivors: Son, Carmelo Sanfilippo Jr. and wife, Cherryl of Portland, Connecticut; brother, Steve Sanfilippo and wife, Gloria of Newport, Rhode Island; sister, Rosalie Deasley of Middletown, Rhode Island and granddaughter, Nadine Cedero of Toms River, New Jersey.
