Carol Lovelady

July 13, 1942 — May 5, 2018

Carol Rebecca Lovelady, 75, of Flower Mound, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 5, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Tiffin, Ohio, on July 13, 1942, to the late William “Bill” and Kathryn (Miller) Sherman, Carol was a gracious and loving wife, mom, mother-in-law, grandma and sister.

Carol was raised in Tiffin, where she graduated from Columbian High School in 1960. She subsequently attended Tiffin University and worked as a librarian at the school. While there, she and a close friend went to work for North American Aviation (NAA) in Columbus, Ohio. They decided to pursue adventure and transferred to the NAA office in Anaheim, California.

Initially, the girls lived with Carol’s aunt and uncle in Ventura, California. Eventually, they moved into their own apartment in the same complex with Kenneth (Terry) Lovelady and his roommate. The four double dated for the first time on Halloween 1964. Five months later, Carol and Terry were married on March 20, 1965.

After marrying, Carol and Terry moved to Dallas, Texas, where she was employed in various secretarial, data entry and billing positions at KRLD radio, Daystar Television, Nissan Motor Acceptance and a number of temporary jobs. However, her primary role was that of a stay-at-home mom after her children were born.

Carol was an exceptional homemaker, as well as a wonderful cook. In addition, she was active in her church, Abundant Life Church in Grapevine, Texas; participated in the PTA at her children’s schools; and delivered Meals on Wheels.

She leaves behind her husband of 53 years, Terry; two sons, Brent (Lauren) and Brian (Debby); a daughter, Tosha (James) Hoefert; seven grandchildren, Emmy and Stephen Lovelady, Daniel Lovelady and Sarah (Doug) Gill, and Abby, Johnathon and Oliver Hoefert; a brother, Bill (Deb) Sherman; a sister, Pam (Jim) Woznicki; a brother-in-law, Bob Bish; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Joanne Bish.

Visitation is Friday, May 11, from 6-8 p.m. at the Lucas Funeral Home, 700 W. Wall St., in Grapevine, Texas. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, at Abundant Life Church, 1520 W. Wall St, Grapevine.

Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, Denton County at www.mowdc.org .
