Cassie Martinez

Heaven received another angel March 10th, 2023, as Cassandra “Cassie” Grace Martinez was called to her heavenly home.

Cassie was born June 22 nd , 2003 in Denton, Texas to loving and devoted parents Ricardo and Kristen Martinez. Born and raised in Texas, Cassie went on to college at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio (2021-present). While at Franciscan University, she became a member of the Daughters of Divine Mercy Household and loved each and every one of her household sisters. She enjoyed musical theatre, Game Night club, Breaking Barriers club, Murder Mystery club, ushering at Mass and spending time with her boyfriend.

Cassie loved living life to its fullest and was very active in her church and at home. She loved reading and writing, including writing a science fiction book that she had wanted to publish, as well as her own songs that she would sing for family and friends. She sang with the Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas for 7 years and was self-taught on many instruments. From the time she was about 2 years old, she loved words! She was a fan of all kinds of games, especially board games and those of the video variety. Cassie also furthered her love of music in dancing. She enjoyed summer bicycle rides, antique shopping, and swimming. She held an artistic flair in her ability to draw and craft gifts for her loved ones. She loved her family and friends, the color purple, cashew butter and jelly sandwiches, goldfish, milk chocolate, squishmallows, McDonald’s and Chili’s, all animals from bees to lions, and her beloved dog Rosie. She spread joy everywhere she went.

Cassie is preceded in death by her aunts and uncles, Joanne and Ron Timmerman, and Ida and Jim Meli; her great-grandparents, Jim and Marie Meli, Joseph and Thecla Leibl, and Marta and Hipolito Fraga; her great-uncle John Meli and great-aunt Edith Meli; cousins Jerry and Jerry Fuchs Jr., and cousin, Zachary Timmerman.

Cassie is survived by her parents Ricardo and Kristen Martinez; her brother, Robbie Martinez; her
grandparents Bob and Carol Meli; Ruben Martinez and Marina Gonzalez; her aunts and uncles: Rick Meli, Jenny and Jeff Meli, and Diana and Alex Johnson; great aunts and uncles: Pat and Randy Sommerfeld, Rosa and Bob Ebery; cousins Mike, Kaye, and Katie Timmerman, Bob and Linda Timmerman, John Timmerman; Jessica and Taylor Dupree, and Thomas and Benedict; Emily, Teresa, Bryan, Luke, Stephen, and Paul Meli; Brianna and Alyssa Johnson; and Doug, Teresa and Corinne Meli; Denise Ebery and Taylor; Joy Fuchs & family.

There will be a public visitation and rosary service held for Cassie at Lucas Funeral Home, located at 1601 S. Main Street, Keller Texas, on Wednesday, March 29th at 6pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 30th, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, located at 2016 Willis Lane, Keller Texas, at 10:30am with a committal service to follow at Bourland Cemetery, 900 N. Bourland Road, Keller Texas.

Following the committal service, at approximately 12:30pm, there will be a reception at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Franciscan University of Steubenville in thanksgiving for their love and generous support during this difficult time, and for all the joy and blessings that Franciscan brought to Cassie and the family. Gifts can be made online at:
