Catherine Louise (Hammes) Lohman, 98, of Grapevine, TX died May 16. 2023 at Harbor Chase Senior Living Center of Southlake, TX .
Mrs. Lohman was born the 9 th of 12 children to Christian E. and Barbara (Meyers) Hammes on January 24, 1925 in La Crosse WI. In 1943 she graduated from Aquinas High School of La Crosse WI. In 1946 she received her RN degree from St. Francis School of Nursing of La Crosse. In La Crosse on October 22, 1946, she was united in marriage to James V. Lohman of Bedford, PA. Immediately after their marriage they moved to Bedford, Pennsylvania. She had 4 children. They were active members of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. She was employed at Donahoo Manor and Memorial Hospital of Bedford County, PA.
She and James retired in 1979 and moved to Prescott, AZ. In 1990 they changed their retirement plans to live near family in Grapevine, TX. They were active members of St. Francis of Assisi’s Catholic Church. Catherine enjoyed volunteering at the St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Shop and the Dove elementary School Library.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Alois, Wilfred, Ralph, Helen, Richard, Joseph, Gregory, Paul, Thomas, Joanne and Jerome. She was the last surviving member of her family. Her husband, James, died May 22, 2003.
Catherine is survived by her two sons, two daughters, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, Edward Lohman of LaPorte IN, Anita and Norman Nishikawa of Woodinville, WA, Andrew Lohman of Stony Point, NC, Theresa and David Callahan of Southlake, TX.
A visitation will be held at Lucas Funeral Home, 700 W. Wall St. Grapevine, TX 76051 on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, from 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of Grapevine, TX on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 11:00am with a rosary prior at 10:30am. Burial will be at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, TX, on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 1:30pm.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church or St. Francis Outreach, 461 Wildwood Lane, Grapevine, TX 76051.” An acknowledgment of your memorial, in the name of the deceased, will be sent to the family from St. Francis Church.
