Catherine “Marie” Simon, 98, of Golden, Missouri died peacefully Friday August 2, 2019 at Baylor, Scott and White hospital in Grapevine Texas.
Marie was born on December 2, 1920 in Chicago Illinois, the daughter of Charles and JoHannah (Pluckenbaum) Stauber. On April 24, 1944, in New York City, she was united in marriage to Howard Thomas “Tom” Simon.
Marie grew up in the Chicago area and after marriage and the end of World War II, became a beloved homemaker and mother to eight (8) children. She loved -- and was excellent at --cooking, baking and sewing. After moving with her husband to the Shell Knob – Golden Missouri area, she became a charter member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.
Survivors include: Five children, Ellen Arnott (John) of Trophy Club, Texas, Tom Simon (Elizabeth) of Mt. Vernon, Iowa, Carol Beck (Don) of Hilton Head S.C., Pam Higgins-Gilbert (Wayne) of Joshua Tree, Calif., and Deborah “Simone” Simon of Arizona; Eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Tom; two sons, Bob and Chuckie; and one daughter Linda.
Visitation/Rosary will be held Wednesday, 6-8pm August 7, 2019 at Lucas Funeral Home Grapevine.
Funeral mass will be held Thursday, August 8, 2019, 10:30am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Grapevine Texas, with Fr. Sojan George officiating and assisted by Lucas Funeral Home of Grapevine. Burial will take place on Saturday August 10, 2019 at 10 am at Lake Park Memorial Gardens, in Shell Knob Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital.
