Cathy Elizabeth Eschenbach, 71 of Grapevine passed away on Tuesday, April 30th 2019.
A memorial service is being held on Saturday, May 11th at 1pm at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine with a celebration of life at Cathy & Doug’s house following the memorial.
Cathy was born on December 11th, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan. The daughter of Virginia & Paul Henneberger.
She is survived by her husband Douglas Eschenbach with whom she just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, her son and daughter in law Scott and Laurie Eschenbach, granddaughters Erynn & Amberly Eschenbach, her daughter & son in law Heidi & Steve Bednarek, her sisters Suzanne Curry & Paula Bonkowski, many nieces and nephews and we cannot forget her dog, Molly.
She met Doug on a blind date in 1968. It was a short courtship, they married a few months later as he was about to be stationed away with the Air Force. She then on her own started a Military Wives Club for all the waiting wives. She was a proud Air Force Wife for 22 years as well an accomplished accounting comptroller and she continued to work until she retired at the beginning of this year.
Cathy is going to be so deeply missed, she was a wonderful mother, wife, sister, grandmother & aunt. We all already feel the void without her. She was a great artist, writer, painter, baker, cook, she was the best at everything she did.
She was the shoulder to cry on, the one to ask for advice, the one you called for encouragement & you knew she was going to be there for you no matter what. She was always there for whoever needed her at anytime for anything. She loved her life, loved her family & friends. There wasn’t much she didn’t like.
For those that want to feel closer and learn how Cat became Cat, you can check out her book “Celebrate Me Home” on Barnes & Noble. That would probably put a smile on her face up there!
