Cathy is survived by husband Craig Tannahill, son David Tannahill and his wife Melissa, daughter Jennifer Wohlferd, and daughter Barbara Mace and her husband Jon.
Cathy had six grandchildren: Delilah, Catherine, Peyton, Cosette, Callista, and Ivy.
Cathy is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Barbara Brannon, and her brother Dave Brannon.
Catherine Lee Brannon was born on September 6, 1944, in Danville, IL. Her father was in the Air Force, which allowed them to see many different parts of the USA and the world. She graduated high school at Johnson High School in Japan. Cathy completed her both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in History at West Texas State University (now West Texas A&M). She spent many years teaching junior high Social Studies in Lubbock, Texas. While teaching and raising a family, Cathy completed her Doctorate of Education at Texas Tech University. After receiving her PhD, she spent an additional 13 years in public school administration. Upon retiring from the Texas public schools, Cathy accepted a position on the faculty of Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) teaching education technology, where she reached the rank of professor. While still a professor, Cathy and Craig’s love of history led them to travel across most of New England and the East Coast. Cathy and Craig were also known for their weekend jaunts to Europe while she was teaching at ECSU. In 2019, Cathy was given the rank of Professor Emeritus. After she retired from ECSU, Cathy and Craig took to the road in their RV. They visited all 50 states and 5 of the 7 continents (missing out on a cancelled trip to Antarctica only due to COVID).
Married for over 56 years, Cathy and Craig loved sharing their adventures with each other. They enjoyed starting their day by watching the Great Courses programs together. Cathy loved reading, learning and education to the end. She encouraged others to look beyond petty faults and to love and accept people for their basic goodness. Her insight and wisdom will be missed by all who knew her.
