LCDR ret C.J. “Duke” Edgington, 77, of Euless TX, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024. Duke was born on May 9, 1947, in Sulphur Springs, TX, son of the late Cecil Truett Edgington and Lillie Mae Douglas Reed. He graduated from L.D. Bell High School in 1965, Fort Worth Christian College in 1967, and The University of the State of New York in 1981. Duke enlisted in 1968 and had a wonderful 28-year career in the United States Navy, retiring in 1996 as a Lieutenant Commander. He served at many different posts throughout the years, from NAS Guantanamo Bay to NAS Norfolk, VA, and his final post at FCTCL Dam Neck, VA as part of VC-6. He was a proud Vietnam Era and Desert Shield/Storm Veteran. Duke’s second career of 20 years was spent as an Equipment Specialist with the US Navy Civil Service, of which he spent over 10 years living in the far east, Okinawa, serving his post.

In 2016, Duke finally retired and shifted his focus to family, either at the beach in Florida or at his home in Texas. Duke enjoyed all sports and was an avid golfer and collector of many things. He was involved in several associations, including the VFW (lifetime member), Freemasons, and a PADI DiveMaster and instructor for many years.

Duke was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Mae Douglas Reed and father, Cecil Truett Edgington.

He is survived by his wife Marie Edgington; brother, Charles Edgington (Bettye); two daughters, Devery Koehl (Chad) and Ashley Edgington (Mack); and one son, Jon Edgington (Jill); six grandchildren Savannah Koehl Depine (Zach), Dylan Koehl (Haley), PFC Clayton Koehl, Blake Folds, Lane Edgington, Drew Edgington; three step children, James Rachal (Anne), Joshua Crisp, and Jeremy Crisp; three step grandchildren, Matthew Rachel, Jonathan Rachel and Julianna Rachel; three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to VFW (vfw.org) or National League of POW/MIA Families (pow-miafamilies.org).
