Chad Fletcher

Chad Fletcher rode into the sunset on Saturday, September 20th.
Visitation: Tuesday, September 23rd 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home, Keller, TX.
Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 24th at Alliance Methodist Church,
Ft. Worth, TX. Interment: 2:00 p.m. at Dallas – Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of Texas – EFTX.org or the charity of your choice.

To support those who have epilepsy, the family asks that you wear something purple to Chad's service. Purple was also Chad's (and Melanie's) favorite color.

Chad was born in Lawton, OK, to Leon and Karen Fletcher on July 15, 1971. He spent his early childhood in Elgin, OK, and after the fifth grade he and his younger brother Shane moved to Anadarko, OK. where Chad went on to graduate from Anadarko High School in the Class of 1989, and Shane graduated in the Class of 1993. Chad attended Cameron University in Lawton, OK for two years on a music scholarship.
After college Chad made a life-changing decision, he decided to serve his country and joined the U.S. Air Force. He soon decided that military life was for him and spent the next seventeen and one half years building a career. In that time he attained the rank of Technical Sargent.
Chad began his military career in supply and logistics at Altus Air Force Base and after two tours he was transferred to Arlington, TX. Shortly after arriving in the Metroplex, his PCA was changed and he moved to the 344th Recruiting Squadron where he spent the next fourteen years and was a four-time Silver Badge Award winner. Chad closed his military career with the final year being spent at the MEPS at Tinker Air Force Base.
In addition to his recruiting duties Chad’s talent and love of music afforded him the honor of being the trumpeter for the Base Honor Guard. In his spare time, after retirement, he enjoyed learning to play piano and bass guitar.
While Chad was stationed at Altus, like many other young airmen, he made frequent trips to Wichita Falls looking for love in all the right places. On one of these trips in 1995 he had the good fortune to meet the yet unknown love of his life, Melanie Wilson. He was hopelessly in love, and they were married on May 10, 1997 in Flower Mound, TX.
Melanie and Chad settled in North Tarrant County where they have lived to this day. The next life-changing event for Chad was the blessing of a son, Travis Lee Fletcher born on November 24, 2003.
Chad was a proud father and a best buddy to Travis. Chad coached Travis’s football team from peewee to the current season. He also enjoyed helping out at Travis’s school functions and with his Boy Scout activities. Most recently Chad served as the crossing guard at Park Glen Elementary where “Mr. Chad” was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Chad was an avid OU fan knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the team every year. He would openly celebrate the victories and agonize over every defeat, especially to Texas.
Survivors: Melanie, his wife; Travis, his son; Leon Fletcher and Karen Fletcher, his parents; Shane, his brother; Mandi & Mike Myers, his sister and brother in law; Liam & Allie Myers his nephew and niece; Vicki & Dick Wilson, mother and father in law.
His Aunts, Kay Abbott and Kathy Runyon; his Uncle, Wayne Nixon; and Cousins, Les & David Abbott; Flint & Cody Runyon; and Lady, his beloved dog.

His family, friends, and the community will sorely miss Chad’s friendly smile.
