Chandra Gamlath

Chandra Gamlath was born in Sri Lanka April 28, 1958. He was the eldest of three children of Mr & Mrs. P. A. Gamlath. Chandra received his primary and secondary education at Science College in Matale, Sri Lanka and graduated from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 1981. He worked in various institutions in Sri Lanka and overseas as a research scientist and obtained his Ph.D. in chemistry from University of Missouri, Colombia, MO in 1992 . He also obtained his MBA from University of William Woods in Missouri in 1999. Chandra worked as a principle scientist for Pfizer since 2000 and was a resident of St. Louise, MO for last 25 years.

Chandra married Samanthi Wijerathna in 1994 and their two sons, Sachith and Isuru were born in 1996 and 1999, respectively. He was a devoted husband to Samanthi and doting father to their two sons. Besides his illustrious carrier as a scientist, Chandra was a talented musician and a sportsman. He was a dedicated member of the Sri Lankan community in St. Louis, MO.

Chandra is survived by three sisters Mala, Sunethra, and Priyanthi. He was preceded in death by his parents.
