On January, 7, 2021 Charlene Lenora Dennis joined heaven’s choir at the age of 91.
Charlene was born on May 28, 1929 to Charley and Lenora Taylor. Charlene married her true love, Richard Bland Dennis Jr. on August 29, 1950. Together, they raised three children: Alvetta, Richard, and Charles.Throughout her life, Charlene lived in five states and eventually settled in Duncan, Oklahoma with her husband and parents.
From an early age, Charlene found great joy in music, and she chose to make that joy part of her life’s work. Charlene graduated from Hardin Simmons University with a bachelor’s degree in music. She conducted many church and school choirs in addition to serving as the piano accompanist for several churches.
Charlene loved to spend time traveling, camping, cooking, playing piano, and being with her family. She will be remembered for her warmth, giving heart, and ability to make others feel loved.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Dennis Jr., her parents Charley and Lenora Taylor, her brother Richard Taylor, and sister Jean Taylor, and her great-grandson, Mitchell Chang. She is survived by her children, Alvetta, Richard, and Charles, their spouses, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held in Duncan, Oklahoma to honor her life.
