Charlene R. Peterson, 82, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 30, 2016.
Visitation: 3-5:00 pm Sunday at Lucas Funeral Home, 700 W. Wall St, Grapevine, TX. Funeral: 11 am, Monday at Abundant Life Church, 1520 Wall St, Grapevine, TX. Visitation: 6-8:00 pm Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, KS. Graveside: 1:00 pm Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 W 6th St, Topeka, KS.

Charlene was born on August 7, 1933 in Topeka, KS to Ruby and Charles Reed. She graduated from Seaman High School in 1951. She worked and retired from Santa Fe Railroad. She was a Grand Matron with the Eastern Star. She married James Peterson on Feb. 1, 1952, and was a member of Crestview United Methodist Church in Topeka.
As an employee of L.D. Bell High School, she was a Special Education Assistant Teacher. Charlene was a member of the Zonta Club. She taught VBS for her church, Abundant Life Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Roland and wife Julie, of Topeka, KS, Frank and wife Dorothy, of Topeka, KS, and Charlie and wife Blanche, of Topeka, KS; and her husband.
Survivors: Sons, Rev. Jere Peterson and wife Kim, of Lavallette, NJ, and Duane and wife Deb Peterson, of Lawrence, KS; daughter, Connie Peterson, of Grapevine, TX; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
