Charles "Charlie" Boykin, of Bedford, Texas, went home to Christ on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025 at the age of 86 and will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and friend.
Born in Waco, Texas to George and Pearl Boykin, Charlie built a distinguished career in technology that helped shape our modern digital world. As a systems administrator at AT&T Labs during the 1970s and 1980s, he contributed to the development of the UNIX operating system and early Internet infrastructure. He continued his technical leadership at Southern Methodist University before concluding his career at Verizon.
Charlie was passionate about staying connected with his Waco High School classmates, dedicating time to organizing reunions and maintaining lifelong friendships. He also found joy in country and western dancing as a member of the Big D dance club for many years. Throughout his life, he was a loving dog owner, most recently to his cherished schnauzer, Hunter.
He is survived by his sons Eric and Daryl Boykin, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Boykin, and his beloved grandchildren Alexander, Meredith, Andrew, and Garrett Boykin.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 31st, 2025 at Waco Memorial Park at 1:00 PM, all are welcome to attend.
