Charles Thomas Bretz

Tom Bretz, 72, of Euless, Texas passed away February 9th, 2022, in Bedford, Texas. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday February 22, at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas. Tom was born May 6, 1949, in Houston, Texas to Wesley and Frances Bretz. Tom graduated from Eastern Hills High School in 1967 and attended East Texas State College. At age 20 he was enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was a decorated Vietnam Veteran in the 101st Airborne Division. He received the Bronze Star Medal Award, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal during his time there. Tom married the love of his life, Paula Newton on May 8, 1970. They were married for almost 53 years. They raised 3 children and had 8 grandchildren. Tom loved coaching his three daughters in softball. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, grilling, gardening and spending time with his loved ones. Tom will forever be remembered by his wife Paula, their three children, Heather Blackmon and her husband Brandon, Jennifer Ehrenberg and her husband Tommy, and Lara Bretz as well as his eight grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Frances; and his sister Alice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gary Sinise Foundation. Donations can be mailed to P.O.
