Charles Joel Hancock

Charles Joel Hancock passed away on Monday, November 15th, after losing his battle with cancer. Charlie, as he liked to be called, was born in Lovington, New Mexico to Clan Hancock and Jewel Self Hancock on February 20th, 1939. He grew up in Midland, Texas and he received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Texas Tech University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. On May 31st, 1966, he married Billye Mathis. He and Billye had two children, Camille Renee Hancock and Roger Charles Hancock. Charlie and his family lived mostly in Hurst, Texas. He worked as a safety engineer for Home Insurance, then later for Amerisure until he retired in 2004. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Hurst and was involved with many church activities. He loved spending time with his family, especially his two grandchildren. Charlie would be described as a fun-loving family man with a great sense of humor and was beloved by all. Charlie is survived by his daughter Camille, son Roger, daughter-in-law Beverly and his grandchildren Conner and Kiera. He is preceded in death by his wife Billye who passed away in 2007.

There will be a visitation on Friday, November 19th from 6-8pm at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas and a funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 20th at 10am at First Baptist Hurst.
