Charles Thomas (Tom) Large passed away Friday, March 8th, at 5:30 PM, surrounded by family in Bedford, TX.
Tom was born in Santa Barbara, California, on January 2nd, 1944, to parents Charles Jordan and Bonnie Jean (McMillan) Large. He married Debra (Patterson) Large in Oklahoma City, OK, on September 5th, 1968. After 30 years in the Air Force (20 active, 10 reserves), participating in the Vietnam War, The Gulf War, and Desert Storm, ultimately achieving the rank of Senior Master Sergeant, then spending more than a decade with American Airlines. Tom retired at age sixty-nine. He had the ability to immediately befriend anyone, and even when dressing you down somehow made you feel like he was your best friend. The impact he has made in this world can be felt in so many countries, in military and civilian life, and by family and friends, he was always one step shy of divine. He consistently taught family by example, classes with understanding, and friends by being one.
Tom is survived by beloved wife Debra Large, children Kimberly (Large) Polander, Bonnie Large, Thomas Large, and Daniel Large, grandchildren Jordan Polander, Kelly Polander, Christopher Large, Paige Polander, Sydney Dacek, Cadence Large, Carter Large, Jillian (True) Townson, and Brittany (True) Williams, great-grandchildren Alyssa Williams and Anthony Williams, and siblings Wilton, David, and Michael.
