Charles was born in Fort Worth, TX. in 1939 to Clarance Alvin McMillian and Maebell Freeman McMillian. He was one of three children. He was preceded in death by both his parents and his two sisters Luetta Reeves and Betsy Baker.

Charles was a veteran of The United States Army. He was inducted into the Army in October 1961 and was honorably discharged in September 1963. During this time, he served in Korea. He achieved the rank of Sp-4 and was a communication specialist. He received 2 accommodations. He was awarded Marksman (Rifle) and Marksman (Carbine) during his service. He then went on to serve in the US Army Reserves from 1963 until he was honorably discharged in 1967.

He meets the love of his life in 1970. His sister Betsy was doing the hair of a friend from church, Ms. Pauline Sue McMillian. Charles stopped by Betsy’s house for a visit. The three of them visited and when Betsy finished Pauline’s hair, she cooked a lovely meal. By the time the meal was finished Charles and Pauline had enjoyed their evening. Pauline and Charles married in 1971. Charles had two boys when they married. Charles Wayne and Charles Alvin Jr. Charles and Pauline had two boys Phillip Lee born 1974 and Jason Alan born 1978. Pauline worked in the food service industry for Birdville ISD and Charles worked for Champion Box Company for 40 years.

Charles leaves behind 4 children: Charles Wayne, Charles Alvin & his wife Jennifer, Philip, and Jason & his wife Kim. He had 3 grandchildren: Callen, Chase, Ana & her husband Corey. His nieces and nephews are Jimmy, Garry, Danny, Darryl, and Kathleen from his sister Luetta & Teresa, Mary, and Evelyn from his sister Betsy.

Graveside Service with military honors will take place Monday, October 30, 2023 at 3:30 pm in the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dalllas, Texas.
