Charles Raymond Mcmurry

Charles “Chuck” Raymond McMurry, II passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022 at the age of 72. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, Poppa, brother, son, and friend to all that knew and loved him.

Chuck was born on November 15, 1949 in Norman, Oklahoma. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1972 with a degree in Environmental Design and began working in the oil industry, traveling nationally and internationally for work throughout the course of his career. Chuck married the love of his life, Deborah Theriot McMurry, on August 25, 1978, and together they had one daughter, Megan McMurry Shelton. Chuck’s greatest accomplishments in life were his roles as a father and a husband.

Throughout his life, Chuck had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed puzzles, Saints football, NASCAR, fish ponds, espresso – both homemade and from Starbucks, the community he found within AA, and reading. Chuck was extremely caring and giving, often going out of his way to help others. He volunteered with the American Red Cross in Covington, Louisiana, helping with relief efforts from hurricanes and other
natural disasters.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Debbie McMurry; daughter, Megan McMurry Shelton; son-in-law, Ryan Shelton; grandchildren, Nora, Lily, and Elliot Shelton; sister, G Susan McMurry Lang; brother-in-law, Peter Lang; brother, Walter Scott “Buddy” McMurry; brother-in-law, David Murray; niece Dana McMurry Naquin and her husband, Jeff Naquin; and niece Cameron Townes Gore, her husband, Thomas Gore, and daughter, Madelyn Gore. His mother, Gloria Cantrell McMurry, joined him in death on November 18, 2022. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Raymond McMurry.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 11 am at
New Hope Lutheran Church, 2105 Willis Lane, Keller, Texas. A reception will be held at the church following the service, and all are welcome.
