Grant Porter
Charles Grant Porter, of North Richland Hills, Texas passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family on March 11 at 7:42 a.m. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 18 years ago, but he never complained. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and friend to all that knew and loved him. He was born on July 27th 1942 in Jacksboro, Texas to Carroll and Lois Porter. He attended Jacksboro High School and was on the Tiger baseball, football and basketball teams. He went on to attend Texas Tech, graduating with a Bachelor of Business and Accounting. He was a CPA and served as a government auditor for 32 years. In his spare time, Grant played golf as often as he could. He preferred walking the course over the use of a golf cart as evidenced by his strong calf muscles. Grant was not one to complain about a bad shot but he would ask himself, “Grant, is that the best you can do?” When he could no longer play golf, Grant enjoyed playing 42 (dominoes) with the other players at the Hurst Senior Citizen Center. Patsy and Grant have been blessed with lifelong friends from Bellevue Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Hurst, Texas. Grant accepted the Lord into his heart at the age of 12 and remained a faithful servant until his passing. Grant is survived by the love of his life, Patsy Ruth Pruitt, his loving wife of 54 years; sister, Cecilia Kay Freeman; brother-in-law, Sidney Freeman and brother-in-law Joe Robinson, sons Kyle Grant Porter and Tracy Porter of Granbury TX and Kevin Scott Porter and Joanie Porter of North Richland Hills; grandsons, Reece Porter and Layne Solsbery; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn Robinson. The celebration of Grant’s life will be held on Saturday, March 16th at 11 a.m. at Lucas Funeral Home Chapel in Keller, Texas. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Mission Fund (1801 Norwood Dr. Hurst, TX 76054) or any Parkinson’s foundation.
