Charles Ray Rogers, of North Richland Hills, Texas moved to his Heavenly home on January 27, 2025 at the age of 89 years young. Charles was born to Arlin and Lorene Rogers on November 26, 1935 in Grapevine, Texas as the third of four children. In 1953, he met the love of his life, Fay, at a local roller skating rink on his 18 th birthday. Charles said he knew that day she was the one. They were married for 60 years, shared three children, and enjoyed numerous ministry journeys sharing the positive message of faith and joy with an emphasis on winning the lost to Christ in many nations across the world.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife Fay Rogers, his parents, siblings, Bette Rogers Moffat, Don Rogers, Jimmy Rogers, and oldest daughter, Sheree Rogers. Charles is survived by his son, Denne Rogers and daughter, Robin Rogers Eddins, son-in-law, Rob Eddins, two granddaughters, Chaliese Rippey Drum (spouse Chris), and Alexandra Eddins Hampton, (spouse Kris) and two great grandsons, Christian and Caedmon Drum, whom he affectionally referred to as his “boy kids.” As a teenager, he had aspirations to be the greatest football running back and spent a short time in a Triple A baseball league. However, God had other plans for his life. In 1958, he entered the ministry as a Southern Baptist minister and in the early 1960’s was impacted by the Charismatic move of God.
As a result of the Charismatic movement, he became a Southern Baptist minister with a dynamic, Spirit-filled ministry. It was during this time, he became acquainted with the ministerial organization, World Ministry Fellowship. He was honored to serve as one of founding members of WMF, and served on the executive board since 1966. With a passion for missions, he pushed for the development of the Missions department for the organization, and served for many years as Missions Director.
Throughout his 67 years of ministry, he traveled to 75 countries where God set his path on a course that became a great adventure of faith. God used him to increase the Kingdom of God, share the love of Jesus, and impact others through the gifts of the Holy Spirit as recorded in the book of Acts.
In 1973, he began an outreach of 51 years of ministry to the continent of Africa where he preached outdoor starlight crusades, ordained over 3000 African ministers, started indigenous churches, clinics, established theological seminaries with 6 campuses, as well as a K-12 school operating in Liberia, West Africa: The Charles and Fay Rogers American School. Charles loved the local church and the beautiful body of Christ, and was a mentor and a father in the faith to many ministers and pastors.
With a heart for Christian education, he was honored to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Star University. His mission was to “win the lost to Jesus Christ and to reach, teach, and develop leaders to impact their nations for Christ.”
Charles held a Bachelors and Masters in Theology and a Doctorate of Humanities and Missions from Central American Seminary, a Masters in Christian Education from Faith Bible College, and a Doctorate of Theology from Faith Theological Seminary.
Charles authored books entitled “JOY” highlighting the healing benefits of laughter, “How to Develop Christian Love,” the “Victorious Life Handbook,” “Tithe and Grow Rich,” “The Beautiful Body of Christ,” and “The Transforming Power of Godly Thinking.” He also authored other publications in French. In addition to his written work, he recorded an album of contemporary Christian music entitled “Charlie.”
While his absence here will be deeply felt, we take comfort in knowing he has been welcomed into the arms of his Savior, hearing the words “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Those desiring to make a memorial gift in honor of Brother Charles benefitting the Charles and Fay Rogers American School in Liberia, West Africa may give online using the link below or by mailing a check to Faith Outreach Church Int’l.
