GRAPEVINE -- Charlie Yates, 63, passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012. Charlie was a slave of Christ, husband, dad, patriot, pilot, and so much more. Every friend believed he was Charlie's best friend. The love of God poured through his life. In everything he did he ran hard for the glory of God. His unquenchable joy has now been made full in the presence of his Savior, and the baton has been passed. Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Grapevine, 301 East Texas St., Grapevine. Burial: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: one hour prior at church. Survivors: Wife, Diane; son, Andrew "Smedly" Yates and his wife, Janet; daughter, Angela Guthrie and her husband, Ryan; grandchildren, Evi, Zoe, Emet, Grace and Madeline Yates, Reese and Ryder Guthrie; mother, Dottie Yates; sister, Vicki Griffin; and a "Hero" to many.
