“Granddaddy”
Charlie Cobb passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019, surrounded by family and Caregivers at his home. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all who knew him.
Born July 15, 1923, the youngest of four children, in Three Creeks, Arkansas, to his parents Nannie and James W. Cobb. Charlie was the “leader” of his extended family of children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren. He always made every effort to attend as many functions when possible. Learning from his parents, he enjoyed all types of music. He also enjoyed working with his extensive coin collections, was proficient on his computer, researching finances and stocks even up to the end. He was always available to offer his advice to all family members, no matter the subject. Charlie serviced in the Army Air Corp in World War II,
discharged at the rank of Tech-Sargent and later was recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict, was an active Scout Leader, attained the level of 32nd degree Mason/Shriner, and always enjoyed hunting and fishing with coworkers and family members.
As a family, we were so blessed to have the two wonderful Caregivers, Odies Johnson and Cathy Johnson, who provided the best care, and companionship, for both Billie Jo and Charlie and went above and beyond the call of duty. They became a part of our family and we thank them very, very much. They were our angels on earth.
Charlie is survived by daughters Susan (Art) Brown, Martha (Greg) Bellomy, sons Philip (Sharon) Cobb, Dwight (Beverly) Cobb, Tom (Ahne) Purdum, grandchildren Shannon (Jamie) Gornell, Lindsay (Rusty) Lane, Monica (Nick) Holdum, Hunter Purdum, Suzanne Nourse, Christopher Cobb, and 7 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, of 52 years, Billie Jo Cobb, brothers, Vernon Cobb, William Cobb, and sister Irene Ellen.
The Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, December 2, 2019, at Lucas Funeral Home Chapel, 1601 S. Main, Keller, Texas followed by internment, at 12:30 PM, at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution, may be made in honor of his wife, Billie Jo Cobb, to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
