Charlotte Ann "Sug" Spann, passed away after an extended illness, early March 5, 2015 in Burleson, in Community Hospice of Texas.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 4-6 P.M. at Lucas and Blessing Funeral Home, 518 S.W. Johnson Ave. Burleson.
Graveside Services will be held at Burleson Cemetery Monday, March 9, 2015 at 2 P.M.
Charlotte was born October 23, 1929, in Amarillo to Vernon "V.O." and Corrine "Babe" Mitchell. Her younger years were spent in Amarillo where she graduated from Amarillo H.S. then attended Amarillo College. She was married in 1949 to William C."Bill" Spann. As the spouse of a high school football coach, she spent the next 6 years in several small towns in Oklahoma before moving to Dumas in 1955.
She spent 20 years in Dumas rising her family, staying active in the First Methodist Church and running Moore County Schools Credit Union. She loved playing bridge and was active in several bridge clubs. She was of course a mother and homemaker and loved supporting not only her children in school activities, but was a supporter for all the youth in Dumas. She also had a strong artistic bent and spent many an hour tole painting.
She loved traveling and camping with her family. Charlotte moved to Burleson in 1976 and has lived there since then. In Burleson, she was involved in real estate and credit unions. Charlotte was passionate about helping others and was a long member of the Huguley Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary for many years.
She is survived by four children, daughter Susan Harris of Arlington; sons, Mark Spann and wife Terrie of Burleson, Carl Spann and wife Keri of Amarillo, Dale Spann and wife Betty of Bellevue, Washington; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
