Christian Randal Dowdy was born in Bedford, Texas, on March 21st, 1993, and died at the age of 29 on March 16th, 2023. At the age of 7, after attending Vacation Bible School, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was baptized soon after. Growing up, he enjoyed hunting and truly loved all things guns & knives. In high school, Christian excelled at sports, lettering in football and lacrosse. He also learned to play the guitar, following in his dad's and brother’s footsteps. Christian went on to attend Hiram College, where he was a leader on the football team, and in 2015 graduated with a degree in International Business.
Christian had an incredibly charming and charismatic personality. The love he had for those around him was obvious and radiated through his huge, contagious, and very genuine smile. God gifted him with the special ability of being able to walk into a room and make friends with anyone, and Christian used his unique giftings and influence for good. He befriended those that others looked past and made whoever he was talking to feel important. He loved and encouraged the downtrodden and stood up for those that were being bullied. Christian struggled with addiction for most of his adult life, but Christ was his hope for ultimate freedom and healing. While our hearts are broken, we also know that this is not the end. Christian has now been made whole in the presence of Jesus, and while we mourn, we cling to the truth that we will one day see him again. God is making a new heaven and a new earth.
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
Revelation 21:4
