Christy Lena Nelson

Christy Lena Nelson of Artesia, California, passed away on January 31, 2020 in Fort Worth, Texas. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, ava, sister, aunt, and friend to all that knew and loved her.

She was born on February 24, 1956 in Artesia, California to Manuel Parriera and Lena Silva.

Christy graduated from Chino High in California (Go Cowboys!). Christy then found the love of her life Jerry Dee Nelson. Christy and Jerry were married 44 years. Through these blissful years, Christy enjoyed water skiing and going to the desert to ride ATV’s; most importantly to her though was her time spent with family. Christy climbed the ladder fast during her career in real-estate title insurance companies until her and Jerry decided it was time to grow their family in which she devoted her time and attention to her son Derek Dee Nelson.

Christy Nelson is survived by her loving husband Jerry, son Derek, daughter-in-law Teea, granddaughter Leighton, brother Jack Parriera, sister Margie Rodrigues, all the way to numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Cathy Hoefer, brother Manuel Parriera, and brother-in-law Manuel Rodrigues.

The celebration of life will be at 12 o’clock on February 6, 2020 at Lucas Funeral Home Keller. Interment will follow at the home of the Nelson’s. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society if you deem fit; this was near and dear to Christy’s heart due to many losses of loved ones taken from this terrible disease.
