Cindy Lou Wright Booker Passed into God’s Kingdom May 24, 2024.
Cindy Booker was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on September 29, 1942, to John and Ruth Ann Wright. Cindy attended Fort Smith schools, graduating from Fort Smith High School in May 1960. While a teenager, Cindy was known for her cheerful demeanor and well loved by her many friends.
Her father, John Wright, unfortunately passed away when Cindy was in the 9th grade and her younger sister, Sally, was in the 7 th grade. Cindy’s mother, Ruth Ann Wright, found herself in the challenging role of becoming a widow and the responsible person for both girls’ teenage years. Ruth Ann did a magnificent job.
Cindy had two children, James Cary Bass and Melissa Lynn Bass Thornton, both of whom reside in the DFW area. Cindy has 3 grandchildren, Halie Thornton of Fort Worth, Meredith Thornton and James Thornton, both of northern Kentucky.
Cindy traveled with her first husband before they relocated to Dallas where they met and socialized with a number of friends and neighbors. During that time, they became active at the First United Methodist Church of Dallas, adding many more friends to their lives.
Cindy later married Vance Booker and they continued their affiliation with First United Methodist with Cindy working in the Church office, being an active choir member and the Church archivist. She loved the choir deeply and especially enjoyed the performances the choir held and the choir trips to several countries
in Europe where the choir performed. Sadly, this year, Cindy had to miss the trip to Spain due to her illness. She was a member of the Rotunda Committee and very active with the Church Theatre Ministry, where drama and musicals are performed. She was the Prop Mistress for several years.
Cindy and Vance were a wonderful couple and they have enjoyed the friendship of many church members, neighbors, and the extended family. Her grandchildren worshipped their Mamaw, Cindy and dearly love Vance.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 1, 2024 in the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church of Dallas, 1928 Ross Avenue. Dallas, Texas.
