Sid Hofer of Shady Shores, Texas, passed away on May 28, 2022, at age 85.
He was born on July 7, 1936, in Orrville, Ohio, to Emil and Martha Hofer.
Sid graduated from Wadsworth High School in Wadsworth, Ohio, in 1954 and soon after began working for Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, Ohio. He was accepted into the apprenticeship program and later graduated to become a Production Equipment Designer at the Ford Cleveland Casting Plant. He worked at Ford 41 years from 1955 until he retired in 1996.
He served in the U.S. Army as a medic stationed in San Antonio, Texas, during the Vietnam War in 1960. Upon discharge, he remained in the Reserves until 1966.
Sid was an avid home landscaper. He loved to design his yard with trees, shrubs, flowers, rocks, bird houses and more. He also enjoyed projects, with his last being a fire pit he designed and built.
He also loved to sing bass in the church choir and often sang in local church quartets.
Sid is survived by his wife of nearly 44 years, Jeannie Hofer; Children Reatha (Tom) Becker of Marietta, Ohio, Craig (Annie) Hofer of Littleton, Colorado; Step-daughters Valerie (Steve) Buttry of Plano, Texas, and Kim (Carl) Urbanski of Keller, Texas; 11 Grandchildren - including locally Jacob Buttry, Matthew Buttry, Casey Urbanski and Collin Urbanski - and 13 Great grandchildren; Half siblings Emil Hofer and Wanda (Dean) Boyd.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at Bourland Cemetery in Keller, Texas, on June 3, 2022, at 2pm.
