Following his service, Clarence moved his family to Dallas where he began a long and fulfilling career at General Portland Cement Company. He retired after 48 impressive years. It was during his early General Portland days that he earned the nickname "Ham" and all of his customers and many friends knew him by that name.
Throughout his career, Clarence built lasting friendships and was proud to love a job that brought him many experiences and adventures. He often spoke of how blessed he was to be able to enjoy his work and the people he met along the way. He maintained those friendships well into his retirement.
