Clyde was born on September 21, 1938 to the late Bonnie and Hershel Gassaway in Waco, Texas. Clyde passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 7, 2022 in Bedford, Texas at the age of 83 years old.
A mischievous child playing jokes on neighbors and strangers alike, Clyde kept everyone on their toes with his antics. He was active in baseball from the age of ten until he graduated high school. At twelve years old he was already a baseball state champion. He graduated Navarro Jr. College in Corsicana and continued his education with a Major in Business from Baylor University with a minor in economics. He served eight years in the Army National Guard. Clyde was a member of the Waco Masonic Lodge. During his 32 years of employment with Central Freight he was a dispatcher. He married Patsy Louise Gassaway on April 26, 1963. His zest for life showed up in his ways of making people laugh. He loved working in his yard and tending his roses.
Clyde has left his memory to be cherished by his loving wife of 59 years, Patsy Gassaway; children, Michael Gassaway and wife Cheri, Chad Gassaway and wife Rebecca; grandchildren, Constance Gassaway, Ari Gassaway, River Gassaway, Shana Gassaway, Rachel Mikeska, and Tawn Hood; great grandchildren, Taylor, Kenedi, Hayden, and Kane; and beloved dog Hannibal.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Friday, May 13, 2022 at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Rosemound Cemetery located at 3201 S. 12th St., Waco, Texas 76706.
