Cory Ryan Spencer, 38, passed away at home, unexpectedly, on the morning of Friday, August 19, 2022.
Cory was born September 4, 1983 at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas and was a lifelong area resident. Cory graduated high school from Richland in 2002, where he was a gifted athlete. His passion for sports carried over later in life into coaching athletics for his son. He was a proud member of the community and ran a successful construction company named City Concrete Construction. He was what you call a “self-made man.”
If you could put a name as the definition of love, it would be Cory Spencer; he exuded love. Cory LOVED life but more importantly, the people in it. He knew no stranger and would give you the shirt off his back if that meant he could help in some way. Cory was brave enough to be himself at all times, no matter the circumstance. He lit up the room when he walked in. Cory was known as a son, brother, friend, someone you get into trouble with, but he was proudest to be known as being a father to his only son, Jackson. His passing will forever leave a void in our lives.
Cory is preceded in death by his grandmothers Mary Jane Spencer and Sue Hobbs.
Cory is survived by his only son Jackson. His father JoeBill Spencer and stepmother Janice Spencer. His mother Cindy Hobbs, and brother Colby Spencer. His sister, Sarah King, brother-in-law, Antonio Ramirez, and nephew Maverick Ramirez. His uncles Todd Spencer, Marty Spencer, and David Hobbs. Aunts, Cathy Hobbs and Kim Spencer. Cousins, Jessica, Nathan, Amy, Tony, and Tyler.
Visitation will be held at Lucas Funeral Homes Hurst on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 6pm- 8 pm. Celebration of life service to be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, an account has been set up for Jackson Spencer via Venmo @NickPFerrell.
