Biography: Cindy was born December 28, 1953 in Fort Worth Texas to Cloyce and Hazel Parker. After Hazel passed, C. A. (Cloyce Anderson) married Betty Mills. Betty played a very formative role in Cindy’s upbringing. Cindy graduated from Grapevine High School in ’72 and then attended UT Arlington. She married Jed Gibson in 1976 and together they raised two sons, Jacob and Joel Gibson. Cindy married Jack Atkinson in December 1987 and they resided in Southlake.

During High School Cindy worked for another mentor, June Stevenson at Beaugarts hair salon and boutique.

Beginning in the late 1980’s, she worked at The Associates in Irving, Texas, first as a receptionist then moving to HR and then to the Acquisitions group.

Cindy began her real estate career in 2000 and worked at Keller Williams, Ebby Halliday, Prudential and Berkshire Hathaway Home Services (BHHS). She enjoyed working with her clients and was very successful in sales. She retired in late 2017.

She became a member of the Colleyville Women’s Club in 2005 and was active for over 10 years, serving on the Board and receiving recognition.

She enjoyed spending much of her time working in the yard with Jack and relaxing by the pool as well as spoiling many of the puppies they had over the years. Cindy and Jack also spent precious time with friends and family on vacations in various US cities, as well as Mexico, Hawaii, and the Caribbean islands. Those vacations and times created some of the greatest memories.

Preceded in death: Cindy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Randy Parker.

Survivors: Cindy is survived by husband, Jack Atkinson; children, Jacob Gibson and wife Suzanne and Joel Gibson; two grandchildren, Jake and Elise Gibson; brother, Larry Parker and wife Sharon; along with many other loving family and friends.

For about the past year, Cindy was cared for by Grand Brook Memory Care in Grapevine. First, in the Day Stay setting for three days a week and then, in July, she became a resident at Grand Brook. During her stay Cindy was always smiling, high-fiving, and on the move! Her family believes she received the finest care while at Grand Brook and wishes to thank the management and all the caregivers. We believe that it takes a certain type of facility, approach, and staff with an abundance of patience, empathy, and compassion to provide care for these folks; we found all of that at Grand Brook.
