Cynthia Anne Bonner

May 30, 1948 — November 4, 2023

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Cynthia Anne Bonner passed away from
this earth to her new heavenly home on November 4th to join her parents, sister and countless relatives and friends. True to her nature, she departed in dramatic flair wasting no time for superfluous nonsense.

Cynthia Anne (Wiora) Bonner was born on May 30, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois to loving parents Benedict (Ben) David and Verna Lusnia Wiora. She grew up in Tinley Park, Illinois with her three younger sisters: Mary Ellen, Suzanne, and Jackie. She lived a very happy childhood attending school at St. George Catholic Elementary and Marian Catholic High School. She later graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Education. Shortly after graduating, she met her future husband, Robert Henry Bonner (Bob), and they were happily married for 50 years.

As newlyweds, Bob and Cynthia relocated to St. Louis, Missouri where both of their children, Ben and Leigh were born before ultimately putting down roots in Plano, Texas. Cynthia had a life passion for primary education and served as a substitute teacher for many years in both private and public schools with Staley Middle School being her longest and most recent tenure.

Cynthia had an uncanny gift for gab by easily and quickly connecting with others. She would frequently initiate in-depth conversations with total strangers while out shopping or running errands. She was a devout Christian who attended St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Plano where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of numerous women’s bible study groups and book clubs throughout the years.

Cynthia could master any NY Times crossword puzzle, and she had a knack for using proper grammar and punctuation with a particular interest in the Oxford comma. She could spend record-breaking hours on the telephone and was overjoyed when long distance calls became free. Cynthia was truly one of a kind and left a lasting impression on anyone who had the good fortune of crossing her path. She will be greatly missed by many.

Cynthia is survived by her husband Bob, two children Benedict (Ben) David, Leigh Katherine Wilder and their spouses Elle Bonner and Steve Wilder along with her 5 grandchildren who were the light of her life: Lillian (Lily), Benedict II (Benny), Rose, Bradley and Luke, and her two sisters, Suzanne and Jackie in addition to her cherished cat, Katmandu.
