Dear Mom
Thank you for being an amazing mom to us. We miss you dearly. We will miss your laugh, oh how it lit up the room. You laughed as if no one was looking and it never mattered who was around to see you hug us, kiss us, scold us but most of all love us.
Thank you for showing us the true value of time. Time for family, time for ourselves, time to work on our careers, time to give back, and most of all time to pray and give thanks to our God.
Thank you for sharing your recipes, your funny stories from your travels, your challenges throughout life that built you up and made you stronger.
Thank you for showing us how to love you and dad by respecting your parent’s values and making meaningful contributions towards their care and happiness.
Thank you for showing us how to love each other by being honest, loyal, and trustworthy with your sisters. You always said communication is important.
Thank you for showing us how to love our partners by being a strong, committed, and compassionate wife. Dad’s career took him overseas many times and you supported him through those years while raising three kids at home, often alone. Your strength and independence were unwavering.
Thank you for showing us the power of forgiveness and to let go of negativity in our lives. And to live each day as if it were our last. You truly did. You humbly shared your blessings with those less fortunate. Always thinking about those who had less than you and never asking for anything in return.
Thank you for being courageous in life but also in death, you confronted fears, danger, pain, agony, uncertainty, and sometimes intimidation head-on. No one could have done it better. In one of your last messages to us, you said, “whatever the lesson or signs it brings, I have to learn it.” Little did we know, God was preparing your angel wings because you have already learned it.
Mom, there will never be enough words to thank you for the wonderful life you shared with us. We will forever cherish the nights we sang our hearts out during karaoke and danced the night away at one of our weddings and the simple “Good Morning” you used to say while you made us a huge breakfast. We will also miss nights with the kids at the movies, fishing, the backyard BBQs, rolling lumpia together, Asian Market trips, and of course the casinos.
From here on, we will make sure to live life as you would have. Full of laughter, full of life, and full of love. May you be smiling down on us. We love you, Mom.
Love,
Dad, Daesiry, Dexie, and Dexter

A Poem for Mom, God Saw You Getting Tired
God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So he put His arms around you
And whispered, "Come to me."

With tearful eyes we watched you
As you slowly slipped away
And though we loved you dearly
We couldn't make you stay.

Your golden heart stopped beating
Your tired hands put to rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
