FORT WORTH -- Dallas William Collever, 76, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013.

Memorial service: 10 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Worth. Interment: Tuesday, May 28, in Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park, Lavonia, Mich.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please send gifts to St. Paul Lutheran School Scholarship Fund.

Dallas was born Aug. 25, 1936, in Rochester, N.Y. He was adopted and raised by Ida and William Collever of Lincoln Park, Mich. Dallas graduated from Concordia University in River Forest, Ill., and moved to Fort Worth in 1957 and began his calling as a Lutheran educator at Zion Lutheran Church, Fort Worth. Over the next 40 years, Dallas faithfully served the children, parents and teachers entrusted to his care. Dallas also served on the staffs of St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Fort Worth and Grace Lutheran School in Arlington.

He was a teacher, principal, school bus driver, choir director, fill-in pastor and organist. With St. Paul Lutheran Church, he was science teacher, worship leader, adult Sunday school teacher and home caregiver, and with Grace Lutheran Church, he taught science.

Dallas was also a member of the Honduras Dental Missions during the 1990s and was active in the Boy Scouts of America, serving as chaplain during many camping trips.

Dallas would like to thank everyone who had ministered to him through these last years of his life, especially Trail Lake Nursing Home in Fort Worth.

Survivors: His aunt and uncle, Albert and Carol Sachs; godchild, Sheila Sheet; and cousins, Tim Wilke and Scott Wilke.
