Damon Ray Johnson went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 25, 2022 in Bedford, Texas.
Damon was born on October 4, 1947 to Nina Ann and Laymond Johnson in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended Trimble Tech High School in Fort Worth before he volunteered for the Air Force during the Vietnam era where he was in heavy equipment operation. Once home he started a career as a truck driver. Depending on the circumstances he drove local and long-distance loads. Damon was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed his route of servicing “Poppy” canisters located at a variety of military themed museums. Donations to the American Legion Auxiliary Poppies support veterans and their families. He was always interested in history and museums were his
favorite place to visit. His family remembers him as a happy home-body.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Damon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. Damon has left his memory to be cherished by his wife of eleven and a half years, Mary, who’s relationship has spanned over 40 years; sister, Lynn Mitchell and husband Jim; step-son, Fred Montana Sr. and wife Delaina; grandchildren, Fred Montana Jr and partner Vivian Crow; Megan Shelton and husband Dusty; great grandchildren, Blake Shelton and Bentley Shelton, and nieces and nephews.
