Daniel “Dan" Owen Absher, 82, of Southlake, TX, beloved husband, father, step-father, and brother, peacefully passed away on January 10th, 2021, at his home.
Dan was born on July 28th , 1938 to his loving parents, Rodney Owen Absher and Nina Marie Rouse, in Wilmar, CA. Graduating from Putnam City High School in 1955, he pursued and obtained his degree in Electrical Engineering at Oklahoma State University. Dan spent 25 years as an exemplary Engineer with F&M Systems. He then finished out his professional career with Amtek, working on many projects including the NTTA Toll Tag system. He retired from Amtek in 2013 but continued to work as a consultant on several projects for a time after.
Dan was passionate about all things technical, mechanical and aeronautical. He loved to figure how things worked. His endless curiosity and thirst for knowledge helped him to develop his larger- than- life knowledge base. This, along with his superior fix-it capabilities, were gifts that he freely shared with any and all who entered his orbit. Dan truly loved to help others and did so without hesitation.
He had many hobbies and interests, such as his love for music. As of late he was especially fond of Roy Orbison/The Traveling Wilburys. He had a strong affinity for history, a love of vintage autos and excelled in all things to do with woodworking.
He is survived by his wife Kay Absher, sister Jean Cavender and brother-in-law Bob Cavender, children Russ Absher and daughter-in-law Becky Absher, Perry Absher, Terri Stafford and Rhonda Boswell. He was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Ben, Ashley, Taylor, Judd, Desiree and multiple great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Dan was predeceased by his sister Joan Manning and brother-in-law Jerry Manning.
Dan’s memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
He will be greatly missed.
