Daniel Duque Ortega Sr., 77, passed away on January 2, 2024.
He was born on April 13, 1946 in Pasay City, Philippines to Juan B. Remigio Ortega, Sr., Lt. Col. and Rosario Duque Ortega. After he graduated from St. Mary's Academy of Pasay, he followed his passion of performing. He entered several singing contests, performed for radio stations, TV stations, and night club bands. While following his dreams, he met the love of his life, Lydia Matias. They were happily married on July 2, 1966. They were married for 57 years and had 5 children. He raised his family in the Philippines until May of 1985 when they moved to Cleveland, Ohio. In 1986, he started the devotion of Santo Niño and was a member of the Philippine American Ministry. In 1995, they joined Couples for Christ to support Alay Kapwa and Ancop. In 1998, they moved to California to be closer to family. In 2005, they moved to Fort Worth, Texas and became members of The Fatima Rosary Crusade. Daniel retired from work life as an orthopedic technician.
He was proceeded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Lydia Matias Ortega, his 5 siblings, Dr. Ben Ortega, Carmen Uy, Celso Ortega, Juan Ortega Jr., Nina Fajardo, his 5 children, Jesse Ortega, Marijo De Los Santos, James Ortega, Daniel Ortega Jr., Joel Ortega, and his 9 grandchildren, Aliana, Jessica, AJ, Alec, Louie, Oliver, Gabby, Issabelle, and Ronin.
