Danny Ray Wisdom

September 16, 1951 — May 27, 2016

Danny Ray Wisdom, 64, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 in Fort Worth Texas. Danny was born in Hohenwald, TN September 16, 1951 to Hollis and Juanita Wisdom. Danny Wisdom was an honorable man and a hero to many. He proudly served his country at the age of 18 in the Vietnam War from November 1969 to November 1970 as a Sergeant, before being transferred back to the states. He earned a Vietnam Service Metal with 3 bronze stars for his sacrifice and bravery in the fight protecting his country. He loved his country and was proud to be a member of the Military.

He retired from the Dallas Morning news as a Building Engineer and licensed plumber.

Those that know Danny, knew that his love for his God, his wife, his children, his grandchildren and his great grandson was greater than any love you've ever seen from any other man.
He lived for his wife, children and grandchildren. As a husband, he was devoted to his wife, Janilee, for 30 years. He knew when he met her in 1986 that he had found his home and you could see the love for his wife in the sparkle of his eyes. He always confessed his love and how blessed he was to have Janilee as his wife and best friend. She loves and absolutely adores Danny, and always will. They are so blessed to have each other in their lives. She lived for him just as much as he for her.

As a father, Danny had an extraordinary love and relationship with all 4 of his daughters. He was always there for them with open arms and a loving heart. He always made sure that they all had what they needed and that they never did without. He always made sure they knew how much he loved them. He taught his daughters how to stand up for themselves and to never depend on anyone. He made sure that they were strong.

To Janilee, Shanna, Sherri, Amber and Tammi, he is their champion and their Knight in Shining Armor, no matter the situation. He was so kind, thoughtful and considerate of those he loved. He had a special way about him that would make the toughest days turn into the brightest for any of them.

"Poppy", as we all knew him, was a big kid at heart, possibly the biggest. He loved playing with his grandchildren, being silly, showing them how to be a kid and teaching them all of his pranks. He cherished every one of them and every second he spent with them. 11 year old Cade was his best friend. Danny always said he was like the son he never had. He took him under his wing to teach him how to be a man, and before you knew it, they had a connection so special. If you asked any of his grandchildren to tell you what they think of Poppy, they would tell you "he was the best Poppy in the world!"

Danny's love did not stop there. He had a special place in his heart for his parents and all 11 siblings. He made sure to let them know how special they were to him throughout the year, especially on their birthday, as he never forgot any of them.

Two of his favorite things in life that brought him much joy were Elvis Presley and football. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, TCU Horned Frogs and the Texas Longhorns. His love for sports did not stop there. He spent his spring and fall on the sidelines coaching peewee soccer and football for Cade's teams. That was such a highlight to his year, he loved it! Elvis was his idol. Listening to his music took him back in time to when he was young and pain free. It relaxed his soul and brought him peace.

One thing that Danny was, was never LATE! Little family joke here... He would be beside himself if he even thought for one second that he was not going to arrive for his engagment at least 10 minutes early. That was on time to him. As a matter of fact, he would pack his lunch, grab his book, drive down the street 3 blocks and wait an hour and a half until Cade got out of school to bring him home.

He was a member of Life Connection Church where he proudly worshiped the Lord. He was in the Iron Man group so that he could get a deeper understanding of God and involvement of the church. Danny enjoyed studying his Bible and served his God with honor and devotion.
