They married in 1956 and have since celebrated 64 years of marriage, building a life on the foundation of faith and family. He received an Associate’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington while working days and attending school at night. As a young man, he began seeking opportunities to build a business of his own in the manufacturing industry. He became an astute businessman, founding and selling numerous successful companies over the last 60 years. He had a passion for leading, teaching and consulting in his industry and all who worked with him benefited from his integrity and intellectual understanding of the industry. After many years, he recently retired from North Star Components after serving his industry well as a consultant.
Darrell was a man of God and a good and faithful servant since early childhood, after losing his father at a tender age of 6, he took a step of faith, trusted in his heavenly Father and chose Christ as his Lord and Saviour and was baptized in a small church in Dequeen. He shared his faith throughout his life, up until the last day of his life here on earth as he spoke to healthcare workers about how God had been so faithful to him and proclaimed “God’s grace is sufficient” for him. He emulated God by showing unconditional love for his wife and family and it was evident in all that he did. He taught by example to all who knew him. He saw the good in everyone and had the discernment to determine how he might make others lives better, while letting them know they were special to him in a lot of ways, from the nickname he may have given you to the special handshake he had with every grandson.
He loved fishing and being outdoors and even better if it was with his family! A wonderful husband, father and Papaw, his family will be forever grateful and impacted by our time with him, and we are so proud to be part of and carry on his incredible legacy.
