Darrell “Dwight” Mccrary

August 8, 1944 — May 20, 2019

Darrell Dwight McCrary, known to his family and friends as "Dwight" was called home to walk alongside Jesus on May the 20th of 2019, at the age of 74 years. Dwight will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Lynn and their six children: Bryan, David, Grant (Erin), Marcus (Mollie), Michael (Carrie) and Kimberly (Aaron). Dwight, “Pampa” will also be fondly remembered by their 17 grandchildren: Cassandra, Alexandra, Alexus, Zoee, Jake, Noah, Rylie, Mason, Sami, Mayer, Maylee, Dylan, Ava, Addisyn, Maddox, Jackson and Nash. Dwight had a very fruitful family tree that included his brother Deaune, 7 sister in laws, 4 brother in laws, a Father in law that was more like a best friend to him and 18 amazing nieces and nephews that he absolutely adored.

Dwight was born in Amarillo, Texas to Thomas Jack and Eyelyn McCrary on August the 28th of 1944. In the late 1950’s, farming brought their young family to Tulia, Texas; where they raised their two sons. In his teenage years, Dwight had a natural attraction to being outdoors and enjoyed all that nature had to offer. His love for nurturing things continued to inspire him to pursue an education in the School of Pharmacy. Dwight began his college journey at Texas Tech University but soon decided that he had enough of the Texas Panhandle and moved onto Southwestern Oklahoma State University. There he finished his degree in Pharmacy in 1967 and then moved to the Fort Worth Metroplex to begin his career at Whiten Pharmacy in North Richland Hills. Very soon into that career he met this sweet young woman, named Lynn that became his wife in January of 1972. Seeing that he loved all things nature, he and Lynn moved to their family Horse Ranch in Teague, Texas and tended to the grounds and horses while continuing his passion for helping those in need at Gene’s Pharmacy as the Head Pharmacist. Fast forward several years, this young couple started a thriving family and had 6 amazing children. Five of their six children were born in Tulia, Texas but again Dwight had endured all the dry summers he could handle in the Texas Panhandle and they hit the road again with their sites on the Fort Worth area. Serving others was a true gift of Dwight’s and he had the opportunity to do this as a Pharmacist for 48 years.

When Dwight was not behind the counter at a Pharmacy leading a team and filling prescriptions, he could always be found outside in their front yard with a water hose in his right hand and his tobacco pipe in the other. He was known for his witty sense of humor, his passion for watching things grow and his ability to mentor all of those that surrounded him. He was a firm believer in keeping your eye on the ball, having the sheer determination to win and how to display teamwork in every aspect of what you are doing. Dwight was a perfect example of a devoted husband, a loving and guiding father and a book of knowledge with an answer to any question that you could ask him. He thoroughly enjoyed a warm cup of coffee with lots of sugar and reading books on history, farming and anything related to the Bible because of his devotion to the Lord. Dwight was a devout Christian and always had a warm smile and sweet disposition. His presence here on Earth will be greatly missed but the legacy that he created will continue to live on and as he would say, “it’s all in how you handle or deal with it”.
